2008 Summer Financial Aid
Late
Summer
applications are no longer available on the
web. If you are trying to apply for summer
2008, you must speak to a financial aid
representative in person.
Summer
applications will be reviewed once students have
registered for summer courses.
Late Summer
applications will be reviewed after all on-time
applications have been reviewed. You must pay
for your summer tuition by the deadlines stated by
the Summer Session Office.
Application
Deadline: April 18, 2008
(Applications
received after April 18, 2008 will not be
processed.)
Summer
financial aid is based upon your remaining
eligibility for the 2007-2008 academic
year.
Eligibility:
- Enrolled
in UHM courses only and be a UHM
financial aid recipient in the Spring
2008.
Community College courses WILL NOT be funded.

Demonstrate sufficient financial need
according to your 2007-2008 academic
year FAFSA.

Maintain
satisfactory academic progress based
on UHM Financial Aid Services academic
policies.

You
must be enrolled at least half time
during the summer (6 credits as an
undergraduate student; 4 credits as a
graduate student).
You must
be enrolled for all credits
for aid to be disbursed.
Graduate students enrolled in
undergraduate courses MUST provide
written approval from your academic
advisor.

extension courses, please check to see
which session these courses fall under
in order to
ensure your half-time
enrollment.

Complete
the Summer Application Form and
Financial Aid Services MUST
receive it no later than April 18, 2008.

Types of Summer Aid Available
- Federal Pell Grants are available to
qualified undergraduate students who
have not received a Federal Pell Grant
as a full-time student for either the
Fall 2007 and/or Spring 2008
semesters.
- The Federal Family Education Loan
Program (Federal
Subsidized/Unsubsidized Stafford,
Parent (PLUS) Loan, and Graduate PLUS
Loan) is available from lenders for
borrowers enrolled at least half time
(6 credits for undergraduates/4
credits for graduates).
Eligibility for the Summer term(s)
will be determined by subtracting any
amount received during the standard
academic year (Fall 2007/Spring 2008)
from the annual loan limits.
Alternative Student Loans are
available. You must complete the
Summer 2008 Alternative Loan
application and submit it to Financial
Aid Services by the deadline. In
addition, you must complete a
promissory note directly with your
lender.

If you drop below half time
enrollment, your financial aid may be
cancelled and you will be required to
repay all your aid to the University
of Hawaii at Manoa.
