Implications of Withdrawing from Classes
Title IV
Federal regulations mandates a "Return of Title IV Funds" policy for all students who are receiving federal financial aid and who process a complete
withdrawal on or before 60% of the semester has elapsed. You may be required to repay a portion or all of the financial aid disbursement of tuition
waiver received.
Official Complete Withdrawal
If you find it necessary to completely withdraw from a semester that you have registered for, your financial aid must be recalculated. Along with the
possibility of having a bill with the University, your Standard Academic Progress will be negatively affected.
If the semester did not begin, and you cancelled your registration, your financial aid for the semester will be cancelled. If your funds have been
disbursed, you will be required to return them to the University.
If you officially process a complete withdraw from the university after classes begin, but before
the end of the add/drop deadline, you will be required to return
any non-Title IV aid you received for the semester. Your financial aid will revised your Title IV aid based on the Federal Return of Title IV Formula.
If you process a complete withdraw from the university after
the add/drop deadline, but before the 60% point of the semester, you will not be required to
return any non-Title IV aid you received for the semester. However, the Financial aid office will revise your Title IV aid based on the Federal Return
of Title IV Formula.
If you process a complete withdraw from the university after the 60% point of the semester, you will not be required to return any financial aid you
received for the semester.
Unofficial Complete Withdrawal
If you stop attending classes and do not process an official withdrawal, you will receive significant financial penalties, including partial
cancellation of the financial aid you received for the semester.
At the conclusion of each semester, the Financial Aid Office will be notified if you have passed any courses for the semester. If you have not, you
will be required to repay up to 50% of the Title IV aid received for the semester on demand.
